Middle school guys with bulging balloon muscles!

10/30
The epic race of blowing up balloons and creating a the most muscular man

Students using their voice for the Lord! 10/30

This Sunday we got to hear from our very own youth! God spoke through them and spurred us unto intimacy with Himself.

Will Arnold gave a passionate and edifying message about being fully sold out for the Lord, holding nothing back. God wants everything we have to give, and He's worth it!

Annabelle Williams testified zealously about the reality and wonders of heaven. 2 Peter 3:13-15
She recommends to book Heaven is for Real by Todd Burp.

Katy Patterson shared with us that the fruits of the Spirit flow through our lives as we let Christ in. The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!  Galations 5:22-23

Anna Faith Adair shared about how to love a friend as the Lord calls us to. She examined scriptures about being a true friend and how to love well. Anna Faith made a powerful connection with Proverbs 17:17 and 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. “A friend loves at all times; love is patient, love is kind..”

Elizabeth Ellington encouraged us that entering into worship is a delight of our hearts. Worship becomes an effortless overflow of the heart as we connect with God consistently. Spending time with Jesus daily fosters this relationship and satisfies our souls.

Worshipping Jesus

Two brave men chugging a Coke through a sock

The joy of prayer

Teaching by Ernie Wagnor on Sunday, October 23

Why do I like my cell phone so much? Because it enables me to easily talk with the people I love the most. That’s what prayer is – the means by which we talk with God. Jesus taught us to pray,
“OUR FATHER who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever.”
 Matthew 6:9-13

It’s a joy to be able to talk with God, the One who loves us more than we can comprehend. (Psalm 16:11) In your presence there is fullness of joy.

Perhaps the reason we can think prayer is boring is because we so often spend all our time in prayer talking about ourselves. In Jesus’ model of prayer, He starts and finishes by gazing on the goodness of His Father. Lets ask the Holy Spirit to take us to new depths in prayer. Father You are worthy of our time and attention; thank you that you love having conversations with us. We ask for intimacy with you in our prayer lives.

I’m blessed if I’m poor in spirit?

Teaching by Kristin McLendon on Sunday, October 16

In the Sermon on the Mount, the first thing Jesus tells us is, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 4). We know we want this, but what does it mean to be poor in spirit?

Poor in Spirit does not mean that we should be weak or lacking in courage.  It does not mean being physically poor; in fact it has nothing to do with whether you are financially wealthy poor.
To be poor in spirit simply means to recognize that we are nothing without Jesus and we have nothing without Him. Its recognizing our need for Jesus, being fully reliant on Him.

Every day wake up saying, “I need you Jesus.”
We don’t ever graduate from spiritual poverty.
The day you were saved, you recognized your need for Jesus...we need that everyday.

Oswald Chambers said this, “The Sermon on the Mount is not a set of rules and regulations; it is a statement of the life we will live when the Holy Spirit is getting His way.”
Isn’t that good?
It is a description of what we were made for. Holy Spirit, lead us into being poor in spirit. Have Your way.
