Holiness

Teaching on Sunday, September 25th by Todd Miles

Personal Holiness is not being sin-free. Holiness is being set-apart, or separate from evil. This does not mean God expects that we never sin, but rather that we are quick to confess our sins when we fail. Once we repent, we must trust in the sufficient sacrifice of Jesus. His blood enables us to experience complete forgiveness for our failures. This blood also made righteousness and holiness available to us. Once we repent of something, our standard returns to holiness.
1 John 1.8-9 says:
If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Do you feel holy? Most of the time I don’t. Do you believe you have been made holy through Jesus? The Scriptures declare you have been! We MUST line up with what has been done in the heavenlies! we must agree on earth with what has been done in Heaven! God has said WE ARE HOLY. LET US LIVE LIKE IT!!!

By God’s will we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once and for all!
-Hebrews 10:10

"The Grace Walk."

What if your dad got you the biggest birthday present ever! But you look at it and say, “Ah, no thanks.”

Teaching on Sunday, September 18th by Cory

Its common. But its not what we’re made for. God created us to be satisfied by truth, yet we often choose to feast on lies. Picture this: imagine carrying around a backpack full of bricks all day when you didn’t have to. This mirrors the shame we carry and are weighed down with when we believe lies such as being “worthless, ugly, stupid, rejected.”

What does the cross do?
The cross exchanges our weight for freedom and truth. Our circumstances or emotions might be screaming those lies at us, but we know where to run with them—the sufficient blood of Jesus. We have a choice to make: will I give power to this lie by believing it, or will I believe the Word of God and give authority to what my Creator says about me?

Your Creator constantly accepts you, constantly desires you, and always forgives you when you ask. This is the best gift ever: that by His grace we are saved (Eph 2:8-9)—there’s nothing we did to deserve salvation. And so it is with our Father’s acceptance; we may not deserve it (and lies may tell us we don’t have it), but (the truth is) Jesus never stops lavishing acceptance on us. We are un-circumstantially accepted by God. We can do nothing to earn it; all we must do is receive His perfect gift.
YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL.
YOU ARE COMPLETE.
YOU ARE ROYALTY.
YOU ARE A NEW CREATION.
YOU ARE FREE
YOU ARE CLEAN
YOU ARE ACCEPTED.

Truth is whatever God says, regardless of what I might feel or think.

And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. John 8:32

Our Vision, Our Goals

Click on picture below to take a closer look at our vision
and our goals as a Student Ministry!

Hello from the Student Ministry Team

We are so excited to have a RiverStone Youth blog!  Our hopes and dreams for this blog is that it will first and foremost glorify Jesus.  We desire it to be a place of community--for sharing and dialog.  We pray it will be a place you will come to for encouragement and sharing life.  This blog will also be a place where we will share what the Lord is doing in our midst.  From pictures, to testimonies, to notes from teachings that are given, it will be a place for both students and parents to get connected.

Please jump on in with us!  We're excited for this new adventure!

Blessings,
The Student Ministry Team
(Cory, Kristin, and Megan)
